Hello yyrGames fans!!
As many of you know, Xbox Live Indie Games did not support proper leaderboards. Some games instead utilized Web-based scoreboards, or a peer-to-peer system (as CardArcade does).
Most yyrGames titles use Internet Ranking, a Web-based leaderboard system that does not rely on peer-to-peer communication or require Xbox Live Gold. But if you were to dig under the hood of the Internet Ranking system, you would find that it was designed in such a way that it would only last for 2,704 days. (Specifically, it used date codes that consisted of two digits, each containing a base-52 value.) Doing the math, this comes out to 7 years and 149 days.
It has now been a while since I started releasing my games. I hadn't really thought about this when I released Snake360 back in 2008, but here we are, a whole bunch of years later. If you play any of the below games after the indicated end date, you can still receive Internet Ranking codes, but when you attempt to enter them on the Web site, you will receive a message stating that the code was invalid.
Snake360: February 21, 2016 (already passed)
Both Sharpshooter and Falling: April 23, 2017
Bungee Ferret Tossing: November 23, 2019
Multitasking: November 23, 2022
If you would still like to compete for score on these games (and you should!) then please do so before the indicated date.
Please note that I hope to implement more proper leaderboard support into future versions of these games. I currently do not plan to close the Internet Ranking Web site before the final end date in 2022, but once new versions of these games are available, I reserve the right to do so. Any related announcements will be made right here in this thread.
