To properly convey what I felt over the last few days would be impossible, but allow me to try:
My wife flew out three days ahead of us, leaving me as the sole caretaker of the seven-year-old. I'd dropped off the summer camp application, so that was done. But I still only had half of the Achievements tested, I still had items left on the list for inclusion into the game, and to make matters worse, I'd just tried out the 3-minute Survival mode and...the game crashed. I was 48 hours out from release. And off to work I went, where I've been buried for months.
Constantly switching gears back and forth between work and Snake, plus taking care of my daughter, was really wearing down my underslept self. I was just days away from the finish line: a trip to my inlaws' place, where the nearest Round1 is just 10 minutes away, and where I actually have time for a full night's sleep, every night! And now, another crash bug.
Okay, work is busy like always. But today I have something important to do, so I really need to take my break. Alright, here we go: out comes the laptop where Snake Party Extreme lives. We jump back into 3-Minute Score Rush, die on purpose, and...boom, crash. But why?
Turns out the reason was silly: I'd told Survival Mode to submit both the player's time and score to leaderboards, but in 3-Minute Score Rush, there's no time to submit. I never accounted for that. Oops! It was easily fixed during my break, and then it was right back to being overwhelmed by my day job!
We had just enough leftovers for dinner. Then I had to do all the dishes...then get her into bed on time...then my Twitch stream at 10:30pm...then getting to bed at a reasonable-ish time...
...and this was less than two days before the release of Snake Party Extreme. Now, you have an idea of what *really* went into it!
