I survived the Web site upgrade!

Oh, man. I'm super glad that this worked!

A former co-worker of mine convinced me not to use WordPress when I set up my Web site back in...oh, I don't even know. Probably in 2011 or 2012 or so. Why? Because--at least at that time--WordPress sites were notoriously easy to hack and exploit. Drupal seemed to be a bit more secure, so I went with Drupal 7, which was the latest version at the time.

Welcome to yyrGames!

Hello!
It's possible that you're here because you played or bought one or more of my games at Super MAGFest 2020! So, I'll give you a little introduction to what I'm about, what I've got out right now, and what comes next!
I'm a one-man indie developer from New York, and I exclusively develop arcade-style games, because those are my favorite kinds of games. They're what I grew up with, and what I still enjoy playing the most, even at my current age of 40.

Mac support is up in the air (UPDATED 2/28/2020)

The following applies not only to future releases, but also to my currently-released games, Super Multitasking, Sharpshooter Plus, and Falling Plus. If you are a Mac user, please read it carefully.

Apple has decided to tighten the security on the latest version of MacOS. They are now requiring all developers to submit their work--both new apps, and updates to existing apps--to Apple for "notarization." This allows Apple to determine whether apps are infected with malware, unsafe to run, etc. ahead of time. While this is certainly a good thing for users, the not-so-good part is that an active developer account is required for this process, which costs $99+tax per year.

Farewell, Internet Ranking

Xbox Live Indie Games didn't support Leaderboards. So several XBLIG used various methods to get around this limitation. Some used a peer-to-peer system to provide in-game leaderboards, but this required Xbox Live Gold, and became fragmented as the player count dropped. So most yyrGames titles used a system called Internet Ranking. The games would provide 16-digit alphanumeric codes that corresponded to your score or time; yyrgames.com would accept these codes, and post your results.

After 11 years, and after accepting 619 entries from 178 unique players, Internet Ranking was closed on November 23, 2019. The most popular leaderboard, Snake360's Course 1 on Easy, contained 54 entries. To all players who participated, from the bottom of my heart, thank you very much!

Super Multitasking: Versus Ultimate at Super MAGFest 2020!

Once again...I apologize if you've been waiting to play Sharpshooter Plus. You'll be waiting a little bit longer...

But on the plus side, it gives me great pleasure to announce that Super Multitasking: Versus Ultimate is coming soon! And, you can be one of the first to try it out at Super MAGFest 2020!

Super Multitasking: Versus Ultimate will be the third and final--truly, the ultimate--version of my most original concept to date! The gaming skills you've built up over the years will be tested in new ways that you've never before imagined! This version will have more craziness, more excitement, more replay value, and even more features intended for beginners!

End-of-service reminders

Thank you for continuing to enjoy yyrGames!

The state of yyrGames (plus more delays!)

I expected to have Sharpshooter Plus out by the end of this Summer. It's Fall now, so obviously that didn't work out =p

Things at my day job have been so busy that I've had to work some overtime lately. When I get home, I'm spending time with my wife and young daughter, and once they're asleep, that's the time I have to work on yyrGames and other projects. With my job being as crazy as it's been lately, I've actually chosen to spend some time over these last few months playing video games rather than creating them. Unfortunately, I don't have the time required to do both. So, that's the main reason why Sharpshooter Plus has yet to come out.

Delays, boo

Due to a combination of factors, including rising stress at my day job, numerous outside-of-work commitments, actually spending time with my 1-year-old, and also beginning other yyrGames projects, it is taking longer than I expected to release Sharpshooter Plus and Bungee Ferret Tossing 1.5.

Sharpshooter Plus, originally slated for release this month, is being delayed to Summer. In other words, I now expect it to release sometime between now and mid-September.

Bungee Ferret Tossing 1.5 is now being delayed until Fall 2019.

Please continue to look forward to these games. I look forward to bringing them to you! And as always, thank you for your support.

"Not Secure"

Most major Web browsers have started reporting "Not Secure" for sites that lack security certificates. yyrgames.com is one of those sites. So you're probably being told at this very moment that yyrGames is Not Secure.
